This Isn't a One Way Street

You're invited, too.

This Isn't a One Way Street

Dear Cousins,

Medusa Rising doesn't want to be a point of consumption. We want to be a conversation, a site of growth and connection. We know you're thinking out there, loving, mothering, making, writing, weaving your communities together.

We hope to hear and see more from more of our sisters next year. Send us your creations, observations, wild schemes, lush dreams. We offer some ideas below, but the field is wide open.

And we know this is an extra busy time of year. It's Yule for us witches. It's Hanukkah and Christmas and Kwanza. It's feast season, light festival season. Your cooking, planning feasts, planning for visits, planning to visit, the whole production – if you do the production. You might be a woman or a family that takes this time to pull back from the world and need your time for reflection. So, there's no hurry.

In the new year, with everything it will throw at us, let us celebrate your talent, skill, insight, and spirit. Let's crow about our survival and struggle. Let's announce our ambitions and demands. Let's give each other all the courage and Arche-Mama energy that we can!

Stay witchy, be good to each other,
Medusa Rising & The Gorgons

We invite you to share work in any genre. We welcome works that combine or brushes the edges of any of these themes as you feel best gets shouted what needs shouting!

  • Praise for your feminist inspriation! A woman. An event. A creation.
  • How did you become a feminist?
  • What is the most precious part of your feminism for you?
  • What do you want older or younger feminists to know or do?
  • How do you do your feminism?
  • What do you want feminists of other factions/ethnicities/countries to know or do?
  • Pick some part of the Manifesto RadMatFem, imagine what it could look like in action where you are. All speculations welcome!

Don't see your thing? Want to share something else, from another direction, in another mood, about another topic, wider aperture, sharper vector? Cool. Here's an even bigger list of the deep fields we want to dance in!

Style Note

Audience: Well, it's you. Please assume our readers have some background in feminist thought or activism, but are not experts. Imagine your readers will want to put your words into action in some way.

Tone: We prefer a casual, clever, and human voice. That combination of rigor and friendliness is the sweetspot. Jokes, puns, sarcasm, unvarnished truths, rage, and well-polished cursing are all welcome.
