Note: we can no longer pay contributors. Maybe one day, but not for now.
Our call is open all year; we read all year; we usually respond a week or so, and you are welcome to email us if you don't hear from us in that time 😄
Genres & Styles, Moods & Tones
We're mostly – but not only – looking for shorter work, as heavy on the moxy/attitude/rizz as on the thought/knowledge/imagination.
Celebration, rage, pleasure, dreaming, burning down, tenderness, grief, your strength and your growing, your clarity and your mess are all welcome here.
Thought, critique, poetry, fiction, reporting, science and tech, economics and money, reviews of all cutlural production, speculations, futures, soulcraft, healing, history – about and around all the harms patriarchy does to women and all the feminist resistance women are giving our lives to.
We invite you to share work in any genre. We welcome works that combine or brushes the edges of any of genres and themes. Shout what needs shouting!
We accept pseudonyms to protect women's lives and livelihoods.
We suggest listening to our manifesto to get a sense of the perspective we bring to feminist movement and creativity.

Medusa Rising has set out several themes so far. We still welcome thought and imagination on:
- the globl fascist far right (with a focus on the US :/ ), we seeks work from other countries in or falling under these regimes, AND that have thrown them off (Hungary, Colombia, ...)
- Support girls and teens girls in this ultra-preadorty time
- Matriarchy past, present, future
- Feminist tensions over geopolitics & the nature of strategic intersectionality
- Goddess culture, goddesses, past and present of feminist spirituality
Time to shift gears!

Don't see your thing? Want to share something else, from another direction, in another mood, about another topic, wider aperture, sharper vector? Cool. Here's an even bigger list of the deep fields we want to dance in!
Now let's bring in other threads of a radical materialist/radical matriarchal feminism: our physical world, our sciences for understanding it, the social and genetic elements of human traits and behaviors, how to interact with our biology wisely, how to change money and work so that it supoorts life rather than wealth, socialization and epigenetics, porn and parasocial male bonding, what makes better men better, the planet's limits and how to live regeneratively in a globalized world, ... The kickables in the both/and of both material and cultural, both rational and spiritual, both relational and unique...
Style Note
Audience: Please assume our readers have some background in feminist thought or activism, but are not experts. Imagine your readers will want to put your words into action in some way.
Tone: We prefer a casual, clever, and human voice. That combination of rigor and friendliness is the sweetspot. Jokes, puns, sarcasm, unvarnished truths, rage, and well-polished cursing are all welcome.
Purpose: We really like solutions, proposals, imagination, thriving, plans, luck, theory, successes, models that can be adapted. But, some problems are sticky and wicked and just have to be examined that way.

If you are out there in the feminist public, we ask that you send us original, unpublished work. Copyright reverts to the creator the day of publication. We just ask that you credit Medusa Rising as the piece moves on in the world.
A few other feminist venues we admire (and there are many) are The Anti-Misogyny Club, Feminist Dissent, Total Woman Victory, She's Right You Know Substack, Restoration Magazine, Female.Liberation, Womens eNews, Brown Sugar, Women's Liberation Radio News (WLRN), Lilith Magazine, Matriarchy Times, Rewire, The Crunk Feminist Collective, Hawwa, Mistral, ... we could go on. Look in your regions, your languages, the venues and communities are there. We are not the only game in town, and we want your words to get in the world. Not all of these journals align closely with a RadMatFem framework, but connection beats isolation every time!
To you most courageous imagination!!!!
