Medusa Speaks at Girl God Books

No, not this Medusa, THE Medusa. :D A course for our soulcraft, $49, 4 videos, watch as many times as you like to take the lessons fully in.

Today Medusa—like strong women everywhere—would be called nasty, persistent, bossy, bitchy or worse. This is the legacy of misinterpreting her power, and it has led us to misunderstanding our own.

That is why we have called in the torchbearers—the most learned Medusa scholars on the planet—to re-story this myth with us, restoring her—and us—to our original majesty.

During a series of conversations, Girl God Books founder Trista Hendren will dive deep into the creation of this myth and its tragic distortions with Glenys Livingstone, Laura Shannon, Miriam Robbins Dexter and Joan Marler.

This four-part series will bring Medusa's voice into your living room. Watch the recordings at your leisure.

OnBoys Learning Violence: Gail Dines and Ashley Judd at Ms.

In between three-point baskets, her preteen niece kept dropping unseemly references. The adults caught on that she was reaching out for help. Turning down the volume, they gave her supportive attention. She was then able to divulge that the boys in her junior high school were pressuring her and her friends to do violent and disturbing sex acts they learned while watching porn.
It is not a generic or inclusive “people” who are violated in porn. It’s overwhelmingly girls and women. It was not sex that Ashley’s niece feared. It was violence.
Porn, like the manosphere, fuses the two—and women and girls suffer.
How Violent Porn Initiates Young Boys in Violence Against Women
‘Your body, my choice.’ That misogynist credo is the crux of the blockbuster Netflix mini-series, Adolescence, the third most-watched English language show of all time on Netflix. The show continues to provoke debate about the impact of social media on the mental health of boys, in a world dominated by the manosphere, and its power to transform boys’ into violent misogynists. Surprisingly, porn was the one missing element in the otherwise brilliant four-part Netflix drama. The show centers on a 13-year-old boy, Jamie—a typical lad, vulnerable, like so many other young men, to the venom of online misogyny spewed through unbridled social media, chatrooms, blogs

The Best Friend's Handbook

The Best Friend’s Handbook provides advice for girls aged 13-16 to support each other with problems such as abusive relationships, family problems and body issues.

Ali and Jo were concerned about girls and young women, due to reports about high levels of violence, pressure and unhappiness they were hearing and reading about. Jo suggested creating a booklet to activate the power of girl’s friendship so that they could help each other. She asked Ali to use her expertise to write accessible text on how girls can help each other with these problems.
