Style Understatement | by Shivangi Sharma
Poem | Bonus Post | Beauty Industry BS
I was never a stylish girl
Shoes always only about comfort
Sweatpants often the fashion statement
A passionate non-believer in beauty product claims, or often the point
A cream that is 90% water?
Don't bother with bottling
I will get that from my tap, thank you!
Give me a book over makeup any day
I can live for days without a mirror
I might doll up when I want
But don’t ask me to, I will question your depth
Clothes without pockets are sheer waste
We need those pockets even if to keep our disparity ridden salaries
I am not the one to lug a bag if not needed
The ones engraved with the initials of some random guy
like MK, CK…what the FCUK
…that is patriarchy selling for thousands of dollars
Or something equally bad
The brave part of me is happy getting older
I am close to putting an end
to eyebrow shaping trauma for good
And I will finally not care two hoots
I have already mustered the indifference to stop dying my grey hair
The future looks quite bright from where I stand
