Update | Shake it up!
Sisters, Cousins,
Overall, you said you want more connection. We have plans coming in a later post, but we are on it!
First, A Question for the Audience One woman wants “Feminist theory. Feminist analysis of current issues but only if it adds more depth and context to what I get elsewhere. I know Trump is awful and my US sisters need to resist but I don't want more hot takes on this. I am saturated with news and need deep thinking to sustain me.”
Help? We don’t know what you get elsewhere, so… what are we to compare to? Whoever wrote this, please send us examples that you would like us to surpass.
As for deep thinking to sustain you, sister, there is nothing like reading OG radfem books. Many are in the RadFem Archive for free. Scroll down the LinkTree to Archives and Dig In. Also, Matriarchy Times is doing great work on the wider globe!! And Total Woman Victory is a whole meal every quarter.
It takes a loooooong time to produce really deep thinking. Like, Therese Doherty read and wrote for an entire year to write the Asymmetrical Re-Worlding series (here’s part 1 of 5 and it's worth revisiting). And honestly, if your US sisters don’t kick Trump and MAGA to the wolves pretty soon, you won’t be hearing much from Medusa Rising at all, as it’s based in the US. We’re labeled “domestic terrorists” for speaking critically of the flying monkeys in charge. So, you may have to listen to a bit more of our strategy and tool sharing for a while.
Good news is that some of that can apply in other national contexts. None of us are safe from these extremists now.
Mixed Messages 😄
On what and how to deliver content, your responses pulled in nearly opposed directions. This is to be expected. For example: the two most requested rates of publication and types of publication:
Frequency: 2 per month, 8 per month
Types: long-deep dives, short punchy hot-takes
One way through: Anyone want to join us to write hot-take posts or threads for socials with a strongly RadMatFem or RadMatriFem point of view? info@medusarising.org.
We're thinking about ways to mix it up, maybe publish more slowly, spend more energy on community. More on that in the update to follow, and see also our nacent soul-crafting project with Jaclyn.
Back Talk 🙋♀️
Comments are open to members from Feb 2 onward, so let’s think together on these posts.
Alignment: Reader Created Content
This is the number one request. We are very happy to have readers make our content. Other comments in the poll have us scheming news ways and rhythms for publishing.
But a sad note: we cannot pay contributors anylonger. Those funds have run out.
But a happy note: we're making nearly all of our publishing free to all.
Because we're going to shift to more personal engagements with you, we're slowing our publishing schedule soon. We'll share 2 free posts every month, and one about Soul Craft, one from you, or one from Esmée, or from another organization that we admire and ally with. Plus notices of new pods.
About other perks and membership to the Discord:

To Guest Post or Cross Post on Medusa Rising or the Substack
If you want to guest post on Substack or the website, please use our submissions form share a link to the piece or to pitch us on the idea. We have a permanent page on the website where you can submit a link or a pitch.
Topics & Content
The topics you want us to cover run the entire gamut, and we’ll tell you, lots of excellent organizations already cover many of them. That is why we recommend them in our Linktree. Please have a look and support them too. Those are all RadMatFem chiming projects that focus on a single issue or area really deeply. And most of them have educational programs you can take or share in your communities. – We’re open to sharing more such groups you may know of.
Stuck for Ideas? Well, there is no end of either the fuckery to analyze or the bold dreaming for us to do.
We list a few current interests. We have a link (on that page and right here) to a much wider list of topics that we are always happy to publish. And we are open to your ideas. What matters is the clarity of analysis and charisma in the writing.
The most robust intersectionality requires that we all do the intersecting!!! We can only publish content if we receive content. We are very encouraging and generous editors.
Topics are defined broadly on purpose and usually not by identity/demographic or even genre/medium because we invite RadMatFem chiming views from all women, of all kinds, from everywhere. For example:
“More Lesbian Content” – Hell Yes!
Again, we can only publish what we receive. Send us links to your lesbian content. Please send us links to your lesbian, black, latina, native, working class, immigrant, and international local views, research, love, sadness, imagination, celebration, joy, wild wishing, analysis, rage, in the forms of writing, photography/video, art, music, poetry, Please tell women of all identities that we are open for submissions of both published and new work. We’ve had several pieces from Western, South, and Central Asia, from Brazil, and we’re hopeful to hear from more of the world and more kinds of women. Our readers are a kaleidoscope of many countries. We would love to hear from all of you, everywhere.
Share Our Posts and Calls for Content to Women Who Write and Create. We publish work that chimes with RadMatFem and RadMatriFem. We have commitments, but we are not purists. You want feminist world, YOU gotta build feminist world. Like & Share is the postmodern magic!
