The infographic title "Radical Notion Remix: On the Possibility of Penetrable Being" by Jane Clare Jones from The Radical Notion, Issue 7, Page 96, explores the concept of penetrability in relation to gender and the self.

It contrasts the patriarchal imagination of the male self as impenetrable, resulting in strict boundaries and a closed-off ideal body, symbolized by a solid brick wall. In contrast, the male self is presented as supposedly solid, separate, and opposed, where penetration is equated with death and corruption.

This metaphor frames women's oppression and image in culture not as inherent to them but as cultural saturations based on these projections.

The infographic then introduces the idea of an "intertwining logic" that opposes this view, suggesting the interconnectedness and vulnerability inherent in all life. This perspective supports metaphors of the self as relational, emphasizing women's subjectivity and reducing the life-or-death stakes of encounters with others, depicted by interconnected figures.

The concept of impermeability is further critiqued for undermining women's personhood and integrity by imagining them as inert, without desire, and damaged by penetration. This is shown through an image of a hand intruding into a brain-like form. The text argues that this perspective shapes heterosexual intercourse as an occupation and frames rape as an attack on a woman's personhood rather than solely her body.

The infographic proposes that when we metaphorize being as a process of unfolding within a web of inter-being, our bodies can be understood as allowing life and metabolism. The experience of desire and encounter is rarely possible without this entwining, leading to a "fuzzier logic of both/and," illustrated by intertwined organic forms.

Finally, the infographic concludes that in metaphors of permeability, entwining, and unfolding, both selves have access to desire that is not threatening to women's lives and personhood or men's sense of agency when faced with the vulnerability inherent in life-process, relation, and sexuality, visualized by a figure emerging from a root system.
