Post-Midterm Safety Net Cuts

Text on a red background reads Feminism Or Death.
D'Eaubonne's title gets truer every year.

Please share with every woman, no matter her politics or position in the wider feminist landscape. Especially share to women who access Medicaid, Medicare, or immigrant and women's services.

Voting for Dems doesn't feel great, I know. It's not the revolution, it won't protect kids from trans-industrial-complex, or keep men out of women's prisons.

But Voting Blue will preserve our agency to affect these issues. And once that's gone, it's generations if we ever get it back.

Meanwhile, if the SAVE Act ever passes, our access to the vote will be compromised, the more so for racialized and economically vulnerable women.

Life for vulnerable women, for most of our working class, and for our elderly sisters will get harder starting just before and ramping up just after the November midterms.

Medusa Rising hopes 'single issue' voters among our readers or friends of our readers will shift that view and vote blue. Life for women across our feminist communities and our nation's class politics will get much harder much faster if these Godlets and their Handmaidens stay in power.

From The Guardian:

Late on Wednesday, the House passed a $1.15tn bill for a section of the White House request – which may move it forward, but experts say it’s still nowhere close to something that will clear the Senate.
The real money, that $1.5tn, dwarfs the costs of the Iran war. While much of it is for the usual tanks and planes and hardware and training, there’s a good chunk for the pet projects of the tech bros and private equity financiers now running the department.
The military’s head of research and engineering is the former Uber executive Emil Michael, who oversees artificial intelligence. As the Guardian reported earlier this year, Michael, while in his first months in office, made millions in profits, between 400% and 4,800%, just on his investment in Elon Musk’s xAI company.
The Trump budget plans to steer $58.5bn to AI.
About $20bn is targeted for the office of strategic capital, a defense department agency that functions as a private equity arm of the Pentagon. The powerful deputy secretary of defense, Stephen Feinberg, former head of Cerberus Capital, has a former employee of Cerberus presiding over the office. It’s the same agency that committed $620m last year to a mining company backed by a fund tied to Trump’s son Donald Jr.

Pure, unconcealed fascist communism and grift.

From AOC's Issues Pages at House.gov:

The Largest Loss of Health Care in American History
This bill slashes critical funding for Medicaid, Medicare, and the Affordable Care Act, and makes changes that will leave millions uninsured and drive up health care costs for everyone.
Paperwork Requirements for Medicaid (Ages 19-64)
Takes Effect December 2026
If you are on Medicaid, you will have to report working or volunteering for at least 80 hours a month, or be enrolled in school at least part-time, to keep your benefits. Some individuals, including people with disabilities, pregnant people, and others may qualify for an exemption from this requirement.
Changes to Medicaid Renewal
Takes Effect January 2027
You may also be required to renew your Medicaid twice a year, instead of once a year.
Changes to Medicaid AND Medicare Eligibility
Medicaid: Takes Effect October 2026
This bill terminates Medicaid coverage for many lawful immigrants. Refugees, individuals granted parole, individuals granted asylum or related relief, and certain survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking may no longer be eligible.
Medicare: Takes Effect December 2026
This bill terminates Medicare coverage for many lawful [elderly] immigrants, including asylees, refugees, and people with Temporary Protected Status (TPS).
If you are a lawful permanent resident, you are still eligible for Medicaid and Medicare.
How Loss of State Funding Will Impact You
Even if you are not on Medicaid, this bill reduces the amount of federal funding New York State [for example] receives and could cause the following effects: the state may have to raise taxes to make up for a loss of funding or cut back on other public services. Many local hospitals will have to reduce services, increase wait times, or close due to lack of funds.
